If you are an archer, whether it is just for fun or for hunting, you need to practice. Its not like it is a nuisance to practice and shoot arrows a target, for many its just a method for honing and sharpening their skills. In fact, the majority of bow hunters out there find it quite enjoyable. If you have no clue what I am talking about, then I will fill you in. People who participate in sports like deer hunting, or any game hunting for that matter, and those that participate in archery tournaments need to practice in order to be able to control their shots will fine precision. For those that participate in tournaments it is to do well in those competitions. Many of them depend on such precision for their lively hood. For those that deer hunt, practicing with archery targets is a must to successfully harvest game. Not only is that previous point important, but it is also just as important to make ethical shots to ensure a clean kill.

Why Are Broadhead Targets Necessary?

Broadhead targets are great because they allow the hunter to practice with what they will be hunting with. Many hunters won’t even think about practicing with broad heads until they end up missing a deer because of it. After such an occurrence they usually get with the program. I will have to admit that I am one of those people who made that mistake. As it turned out, my broadhead, the same grain and everything, was shooting different groups than my field points were. I ended up missing that deer because of it too. So, a hunter can use one of these targets to see where their arrows are grouping and make adjustments to fine tune their accuracy. The major problem that seems to come up with regular targets is that arrow removal with a boradhead is really hard. That is why you will notice that the majority of these targets will have a foamy or layered surface to accommodate the blades. Folks, don’t make the same mistakes as I did. It is just better to go ahead and be prepared for the hunt by shooting your broadheads. Oh yea, there is one more relative issue to address when it comes to this particular subject. If you are going to go back and forth with field points and broad heads, then be sure to use the dame grains. If you don’t know about grains, then just use this formula – 1grain=60 mg. Most of the gear associated with archery will be weighed in grains, but that is just useful if it helps.

How Much Do They Cost?

The cost is really reflective of the brand or features. The majority of targets nowadays have more than one side. These targets are generally more expensive than those that are not. However, there are two different factors to think about when this issue is addressed. One needs to look at the brand name and then consider the features. Most of these four sided archery targets are loaded with features. So when you see a four sided model for eighty dollars and a two sided one for around thirty five, it is necessary to consider what you are getting. Folks, you will also have to decide whether you want to pay extra for a name brand product such as a yellow jacket, bone collector, or glen dell. Also, I think it is safe to say that any one of those three products is of the utmost quality, don’t you agree. I believe that the block commercial boastfully stated that their product could withstand thousands or shots with an arrow. That is deserving of respect folks. I am not bashing any of the cheap products out there. I am actually a proud owner of one of the cheaper versions and it has worked just fine. It may not be the coolest version out there, but it gets the job done.
