Laser Boresighter Guide

This is going to be a treat for all of those looking for a great new way to sight in a scope. Back in the old days things were a lot more complicated than they are now with laser bore sighters. Here is the situation for all of those who don’t know – every year hunters of all kinds usually shoot their rifles a couple of times to ensure that their guns are on target. A lot of people don’t even understand the importance of doing this. I have seen so many people out there that think that they have to just sight their rifle in once and think that it is good forever. Folks, if you think that you can do this, and are successful with it, then it is no skin off of my teeth. In fact it is possible to get away with being lazy like this, however, it is not the way I go about my business. Yes, it is true that some can only sight a gun in one time without the scope moving off of target, however, the majority of folks find that their scope is not correctly zeroed in after a year of storage.

1. Some individuals have no idea that scopes can get knocked off. Yep, that’s right – an optic can get knocked off of its zeroed in point if bumped hard enough. When you go out hunting they get bumped all of the time – sometimes without the hunter even knowing it.

2. They don’t think that it is necessary. If you think, “hey, I did this last year – im good,” then you need a reality check.

3. The last reason is that there are some people out there that aren’t as serious as others about hunting. They just want to get out there and get away from work. This is good and all, but it is important to have a scope that is on rather than off. If you think about it, a scope that isn’t on is almost more dangerous than one that is. If you have ever heard of the term – “a dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one,” then you will be able to relate it to rifles. If a scope is not correctly zeroed in, then it could veer off from where you were aiming.

I always use a laser boresigher every year to get all of my guns on target. I am serious about hunting folks. In other words, I put a lot of effort into the sport and don’t want to miss a big buck because I didn’t take an hour to sight my rifle in. That is one of the main reasons why people learn to do this every year. It only takes one time for many people to do it. Let’s say you don’t get involved in boresighting one year and you go out on your first hunt. You see a monster buck and miss him because your gun was off. I don’t know about you guys, but that would be devastating. Especially to someone who really loves to hunt.

Back in the old days we had to manually bore sight our rifles. This was a laborious, time consuming process by the way. I would have to get a bright object, like an orange bucket, and place it about twenty yards away. With my unloaded gun, I would have to take the bolt out and look down the barrel. When I had the orange bucket held in the center of the barrel, I would carefully look through the scope without moving a muscle. By holding it in that position, I could tell where the scope currently was and make major or minor adjustments based on what was displayed. Doing this would usually get my shots on paper where I could then fine tune the scope for greater accuracy. That was the past, now there are laser boresighters available to make the process much easier. With, let’s say, an aimshot laser boresighter, you can stick the device in just like a bullet and it will tell you where the scope is currently aimed. All you have to do is adjust the reticle until the crosshairs are lined up perfectly with the laser. They come in all sorts of calibers such a a 22 to a 45-70, so finding the right item for your rifle should not be hard at all. They also come in various colors with the most common being red and green. Another question that a lot of people ask has to do with the distance of these lasers. The range of a boresighter laser will really vary depending on the brand. For example, a laserlyte boresighter might not travel as far as an aimshot or vice versa. As for prices, most of these devices can be purchased for somewhere around thirty bucks or cheaper.
